Breakfast and Fry’s

Good morning. It seems so long since I last posted, but its only been 6 days. I guess things have been moving a bit quicker since I have been busy with work. That’s slightly unsettling since I'm coming home this weekend, and it will be over before it even began. At least I will be able to come home, so it could be worse.
I decided to drive to Houston this Sunday, mainly so I could visit Fry’s (imagine Best Buy on crack). It was a worthwhile experience on the whole, although I would have liked to have gone on a spending spree. I spent quite a while in the store, picked up a few things, though nothing of note. Since I was in Houston I decided to take a drive downtown, just to see the city. On the way, I encountered a torrential rain storm that limited anything I was going to do downtown, so I just drove back to the hotel. That’s about how things are down here, eat, sleep, work, and hotel room TV. It puts me in a dull mood most of the time, not really wanting to do much of anything.
On a more positive note, my weekly recommendation: The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. The five book trilogy is turning out to be very good.

Reflections

These past few days have been pretty interesting. Most people probably know by now, but a few weeks ago I was tapped by my boss to head down to Port Arthur, TX to do some Construction Management work on a packaging plant for Chevron. I really didn’t have much time to prepare, so these past few days have been a little frantic. I might have been excited if they had sent me somewhere other than a tiny refinery town (Port Arthur seems to exist solely for the purposes of refining oil). How am I supposed to get excited about breathing unclean air, waking up at 5 am everyday, or being away from friends and family for upwards of a month? I didn’t see any possible way of saying no though, I’m still new, and this is experience I’ll need, but that doesn’t mean I enjoy it.
BTW, has anyone (if anyone reads this) listened to the music mentioned in my last post? I think at the end of some of these I’m going to list something I’ve listened to or read. They won’t be as mandatory as the last, but still something that help explains my present mood. This week (day/month/however long in between my next post) I would try to pick up a copy of: Cat Power’s (artist) album “The Greatest”. From what I’ve listened to so far, a very good listen.

It's been a while

It's been quite some time since I've posted here, I really don't know why, I've had quite a bit of stuff I should have written about. Maybe I'll set some time aside this weekend to post, but it could be a busy weekend.

As with most posts I feel compelled to share some bit of music. But this is NOT just a verse, or a song, but an ENTIRE album. Beg, borrow, or steal a copy of Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks", and set aside some time to listen to the entire thing. You will not be disappointed.
